Information Center

This information center is designed to help you in determining weather or not a Boston Terrier is the dog for you and or your family. If so it will also be helpful in your purchase of a Boston.

Boston Terriers are very lovable dogs that seem to have excessive amounts of energy. They are not aggressive dogs at all, but will let you know if something is out of place or not normal. So if you're looking for a personal protection deterrent in a Boston Terrier, the Boston Terrier is not the dog for you.
Boston Terriers are very people orientated, not all but most will stay be your side 24/7 if you let them. Heaven forbid if you should leave one unattended and not caged up for a long period. They'll let you know you shouldn't have done that. More than likely they'll find the most important thing to you in the room or area that they were confined to and will destroy it. It's almost like they think you took something from them (meaning them wanting to be with you), so when you leave without them they're going to take something from you.
Boston Terriers will also compete for your love and affection. Meaning they get jealous if you're paying attention to another animal.
Boston Terriers are family animals. They love kids and will play with them all day and believe it or not they will outlast your children when it comes to getting tired.
Boston Terriers can be very active or laid-back depending the temperament of the parents and on how they were raised from pups. I have two that are very laid back and Two that are very active.
Boston Terriers are also temperature sensitive. Meaning that they are not accustom to extremes in temperature. I would not recommend any Boston being confined to the outside. They are indoor dogs.
Boston Terriers are low maintenance dogs. They have short hair, which means they shed very little and never need to be brushed. However they do enjoy brushings. They also don't require a lot of exercise. An occasional walk to or three times a week will do. If you don't have a place for them to run a little bit.
Boston Terriers hate being left alone for long periods of time. If you live in an apartment and work 8 to 10 hours a day with no one there when you leave. I wouldn't really recommend a Boston for you unless you spend a lot of time with it in the evening when you get home.
Boston Terriers are very smart animals and can be trained very easily and love to please their masters or owners.
I would personally not recommend a Boston Terrier for anyone that doesn't have time to devote to it. I have owned several breeds over the years, but the Boston Terrier is the dog for me. I'll never own any other breed of Dog.
I believe that when it comes to Boston Terriers. They are like children. You need to be firm, fair, consistent and loving in their raising.
These are things that I have read and learned from raising my Boston's. If you have decided that you want a Boston Terrier. Then I recommend that you read the following and firmly believe that these are Questions you should ask the person that you are considering purchasing your Puppy from. Weather you get a puppy from someone else or me, know the breeder and know what to expect and accept nothing less than what you expect. Please never purchase a puppy or any other animal from a Pet Shop or Puppy Mill. I also would not personally get one from a Professional Breeder. Not all but a lot also like the Pet Stores and Puppy Mills are interested only in the Money. Only difference is Professional Breeders do take better care of their dogs. But like Mills and Pet Stores, they keep their dogs caged most of the time. That is no kind of life for any dog. I seldom cage my dogs unless I'm going to be gone for more than 1/2 hour, or if one of my females is in season and I don't want her to get pregnant. I usually take all my dogs with me whenever I go anyplace if I can. I never breed my females in back to back seasons. That is just too hard on any dog and I care too much about my dogs to do that.
The following is a questionnaire that you are most welcome to use. There are no correct or wrong answers in it. There are some questions if answered a certain way should be a red flag to you. It will however give you a good idea on some information about the Breeder, the Sire & Dam and the puppies. It should also be helpful in determining weather you want one of the puppies and / or if you want to purchase a puppy from that person. I also wouldn't worry about asking the questions. Just ask them if you may ask ask them some questions (responsible breeders will be glad that you're taking the time to ask questions and it will show them your serious). If the person doesn't want to answer the questions or seems to get annoyed, then more than likely they have something to hide and more than likely you'll be glad they did in the end anyway. Don't be surprised if in turn the Breeder should ask you some questions. Responsible breeders care about where the puppy is going and will want to know that it's going to a good home.
